ALL REVENUE STAYS IN FOLSOM AND CAN ONLY BE ALLOCATED BASED ON THE PIE
We live in a wonderful community….a GOOD community. But our city has revenue shortfalls in every general fund department. Our shift to online shopping, which sends most of the sales tax revenue generated by Folsom online shoppers to the county and state, has flattened our sales tax revenue, even as our city has grown. In addition, we have more than $20 million in deferred maintenance throughout our city. This means we spend more money on expensive emergency repairs.
Police Services: Increase personnel, equipment and resources for our police department
- Hire more police officers to ensure beat coverage in ALL NEIGHBORHOODS of Folsom
- Purchase much-needed technology for police to better serve our community and to make their work more efficient
- Address the criminal element of the homeless population
- Clear homeless camps with the police and code enforcement teams and sanitation crews
- Acquire the building currently rented for an expanded police facility and upgrade the aging police building
- Acquire the cars the police department needs. They requested five in the budget and there was only funds for five
- Address the need for a public safety substation in Folsom Ranch
ALL REVENUE STAYS IN FOLSOM & CAN ONLY BE ALLOCATED AS SHOWN BELOW

Fire/EMS Service: Increase personnel, equipment and resources for our fire department
- Hire ambulance firefighters to staff Fire Station 34, which is being built. Station 34 has an engine and crew assigned, but no ambulance service is scheduled for Folsom Ranch
- Bring back the engine and crew cut during the recession at the main fire station, Station 35, which serves the central business and historic districts
- Add much-needed lifesaving equipment and technology that has been requested
Parks and Trails: Provide proper care and maintenance for our wonderful parks, trails and recreation facilities
- Repair and maintain parks where play equipment has broken down and/or aged out
- Ensure clean and safe restrooms in our parks
- Ensure beautiful parks by providing regular mowing and proper weed abatement
- Support Folsom youth sports by ensuring safe, modern playing fields, courts and facilities. In some cases, this could attract tournament play to our region, which helps drive our local economy
- Fix our beloved community trails by repairing potholes and buckling pavement and repaving aging trails
Major Capital Projects: Build long-range capital projects like matching funds for freeway interchanges, parking garages, upgrading the Police facility – Does not relieve developers of their obligations
- Fix potholes and repave streets
- Ensure our street quality does not decline and we have the resources to improve our roads
- Ensure safer roadways by building new turn lanes, widening or restriping roadways as necessary, installing necessary signage and traffic lights
- Add technology for intelligent traffic management
- Proactively make stormwater repairs, rather than rely on costly emergency repairs
- Avoid need for stormwater fee (as much as $10-20/month in some jurisdictions); Folsom is the only jurisdiction within Sacramento County without a stormwater fee
Streets/Water Quality: Funds street repairs, keeps our road quality high, improves congestion and repairs aging storm water systems that flow to our creeks and river
- Provide matching funds to relieve congestion in the East Bidwell area. Examples – Empire Ranch interchange and Rowberry overcrossing
- Enhance and upgrade the Central Business District consistent with an adopted Central Business Master Plan
- Implement the River District Master Plan including trails and amenities on the waterfront in the Historic District
Economic Development: Implement robust economic development and community enhancement
- Fund enhancements to our community based on adopted master plans such as the Central Business District Master Plan and River District Master Plan
- Fund incentives to attract large businesses to establish themselves in Folsom, creating local jobs and growing our tax base
- Fund city staff person who actively pursues opportunities to attract businesses and events to our city so visitors visit, stay and spend in Folsom, growing our tax base
